SEATTLE (AP) - A federal jury has convicted a Seattle man on 17 felonies for luring teenage girls and young women into prostitution by posing as a documentary filmmaker.
The U.S. Justice Department says a jury took just 90 minutes Monday to convict David Delay of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking through force, fraud and coercion, conspiracy to transport females for prostitution and other charges after a 10-day trial.
Evidence presented in court showed Delay enticed females to travel to Seattle with false promises of fame and fortune and a starring role in a purported HBO documentary. Victims testified that Delay coerced them into prostitution once they arrived in Seattle.
Delay had claimed he was being set up in extensive court filings since being indicted by a federal grand jury in 2015.
Delay faces up to life in prison when he’s sentenced in February.
