The San Francisco 49ers are 0-9, but they’re still showing some fight — literally.

Arizona Cardinals safety Antoine Bethea landed a late hit on 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard, which prompted a retaliation from San Francisco. Three players — Arizona’s Frostee Rucker and Haason Reddick, San Francisco’s Carlos Hyde — were ejected.

The 49ers and the Cardinals weren’t the only two teams to get into a scrap Sunday.

Cincinnati Bengals wideout AJ Green and Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey were ejected for fighting. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans also got into a fight, but wasn’t thrown out against the New Orleans Saints.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan defended Hyde’s actions, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

“I really loved how he went and got our quarterback’s back,” Shanahan said. “I thought our quarterback had a couple of helmets to the head when he was in the pocket a few plays before. And then he ended up scrambling and sliding and he got one again. I think our players had had enough.”

The 49ers lost 20-10 against the Cardinals.
