One of Michigan Rep. John Conyers’ first accusers came forward Thursday describing in vivid detail what she claims happened to her.
“He pointed to genital areas of his body and asked me to, you know, touch it,” Marion Brown, a former employee of the Democratic congressman, said on NBC News.
She said this happened in a hotel room after an event, explaining that she was “frozen” and feared losing her job. She said she told Mr. Conyers that she had to leave and left the room. Ms. Brown claims there were several other similar instances during the time she worked for Mr. Conyers.
The congressman has been accused of sexually harassing more than one former employee.
Ms. Brown said she tried to come forward three years ago, but the congressman called her a liar. She eventually filed a lawsuit and reached a settlement with Mr. Conyers. He denied these actions ever happened.
“I don’t feel good, but I feel determined and I feel purposeful,” she said of her experience coming forward. “I’m here to say that I’m not a liar.”

Mr. Conyers stepped down from his leadership role on the House Judiciary Committee over the weekend.
He has returned to Michigan and reportedly will not be seeking re-election, but it’s not clear if he will resign.
