Sherrod Brown argues that Democrats want to work on tax reform

Sen. Sherrod Brown pushed back Wednesday against the idea that Democrats don’t want to work with Republicans on tax reform.

“Democrats clearly want to work on this,” Mr. Brown, Ohio Democrat, said on CNN.

The senator said he offered two bills at a meeting with President Trump a few weeks ago that were not added or discussed in the tax plan.

“One was the Patriot Corporation Act,” Mr. Brown explained. “Those companies that do the right thing, keep the production here, pay good wages, give them a tax break. Those companies that move jobs overseas, you don’t.”

He said the other bill was the Working Families Tax Relief Act, which would put money “directly in the pockets” of those making between $25,000 and $75,000.

Mr. Brown is up for re-election in 2018 and is running in a state that Mr. Trump won in 2016.
