Sen. James Lankford said Wednesday that North Korea’s missile launch should be concerning to all countries, not just the United States.

“The entire world is reaching in to North Korea and saying stop. Slow down. You’re intentionally trying to provoke a conflict in the days ahead,” Mr. Lankford, Oklahoma Republican, said on CBS News.

Mr. Lankford said the missile was in the air for 53 minutes, which he said gives the military time to assess a strategy and take action, if necessary.

“The first thing wouldn’t be intelligence, the first thing would be quick response,” he said.

North Korea’s threats of launching a nuclear missile have grown in recent months with the most recent test this week. The country claims that it has a missile strong enough to reach the U.S. mainland.
