ALTAMONT, Tenn. (AP) - A school board member in Tennessee is accused of being responsible for a false text about a student bringing a gun.
Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum told news outlets in a statement that county school board member Kasey Anderson was arrested for false reports after a text she initiated caused the entire school system to lockdown Monday morning.
WTVC-TV reports the board said all parents received an automated message saying a principal was notified about a student threatening to bring a gun to school.
Anderson was also arrested in June at her home on charges including public intoxication and indecent exposure.
Attempts by The Chattanooga Times Free Press to obtain comments from Anderson were unsuccessful.
Anderson was elected to the board in August 2014 and had not held public office before.
