Embattled Obama-era bureaucrat Leandra English said Tuesday she’s still working at the federal consumer bureau that she claims to lead, despite President Trump’s move to install his own acting director.

Ms. English said in a statement that she plans to spend the day at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Washington “taking calls and meetings with external stakeholders and bureau staff.”

On Monday, White House Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney moved to take over the agency temporarily after the resignation of CFPB Director Richard Cordray. Mr. Mulvaney issued a memo to staff and imposed a hiring freeze, among other actions.

Ms. English, who has filed suit to block Mr. Mulvaney from taking over the agency, said she spent Monday reviewing “transition materials” and meeting with Democratic lawmakers “to lay out my plans for ensuring that the consumer bureau continues to fight for working families.”
