A White House official said Monday that President Trump will not campaign for embattled Senate candidate Roy Moore, The Associated Press reported.

Despite Mr. Trump’s decision to stand by Mr. Moore, who has been accused of pursuing relationships with teenagers as a grown man, the official said the president will not travel to Alabama ahead of the election.

Mr. Moore, the state’s former chief justice, is running as the Republican candidate for the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions when he became attorney general. Mr. Moore is set to face Democratic candidate Doug Jones on Dec. 12 in a special election.

It was unlikely the president would campaign for Mr. Moore, but he still has not explicitly ruled it out.
