CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) - A Nampa man was sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl last year.

The Idaho Press-Tribune reports 39-year-old Alfred Carpentier was arrested in October 2016, and a jury earlier this year found him guilty of lewd conduct with a child, sexual abuse of a minor and possession of a controlled substance.

As part of the sentence on Tuesday, Carpentier was ordered to register as a sex offender, submit a DNA sample for the Idaho database and have no unsupervised contact with any minors for the duration of the sentence. Carpentier was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine plus court costs.
