Rep. Brenda Lawrence said Monday she was not informed of sexual harassment complaints within her office.
“None of those concerns were given to me. I did not have the opportunity to address them, which I would have,” Ms. Lawrence, Michigan Democrat, said on CNN.
Ms. Lawrence’s chief of staff, Duron Marshall, resigned last week after being placed on administrative leave for inappropriately touching staff members and making comments about their appearance.
Three former aides told Politico that they voiced their concerns to Ms. Lawrence, but she denies hearing about the issues. She did ask that any former staff members who have complaints should continue to come forward.
“I brought in an outside person to do an assessment of my office. To interview staff — my district and my congressional staff — and make sure that we set in processes, that already, I require every new employee to get sexual harassment training,” she said.
