OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) - A Delaware man has been indicted on attempted murder charges after authorities say he struck two police officers in Ocean City with his car in a chase that ended in Assawoman Bay.

The Daily Times reports a Worcester County grand jury indicted 18-year-old Antonio Ambrosino of Seaford, Delaware, last week.

Police say Ambrosino struck a county sheriff’s deputy and an Ocean City officer on Sept. 30 in an effort to avoid arrest after he was seen in the car bagging marijuana.

The chase ended after Ambrosino jumped into the bay and was arrested by Maryland Natural Resources Police officers.

Ambrosino is jailed awaiting trial, which is slated for February.

The chase occurred during a weekend car rally involving modified Audis and Volkswagens called “H2Oi” that police say features reckless behavior.
