LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A severe thunderstorm with lightning and high winds caused a 43-minute delay in Saturday’s Atlantic Coast Conference game between Syracuse and Louisville.

The host Cardinals led 21-3 with 10:39 remaining in the second quarter when the game was stopped. Driving rain arrived early in the first quarter and continued into the second before reports of lightning in the area led officials to stop the contest. Players from both schools returned to their locker rooms and spectators were evacuated as sheets of rain pelted Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.

Though skies remained overcast, rain subsided for Louisville and Syracuse to return to the field and for spectators to return to their seats. Rain-themed music such as “It’s Raining Men” blared over the public address system during the stoppage.

Before the delay, Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson had accounted for 212 yards of offense, including a 43-yard touchdown run. He earlier broke Chris Redman’s school record of 12,129 yards and moved into third place all time in the ACC.

Malik Williams and Reggie Bonnafon have TDs run of 46 and 33 yards respectively for Louisville.
