BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Idaho’s unemployment rate increased a tenth of a percent to 2.9 percent in October.

The Idaho Department of Labor in a news release Friday says it’s the first rise in the state’s unemployment rate in eight years.

The agency says the increase is the result of a jump in Idahoans looking for work, increasing the pool of available workers.

The 2.8 percent unemployment rate the state had for September was the lowest on record for Idaho dating back to 1976.

The agency says the total number of people with jobs in Idaho in October was about 804,000.
