DETROIT (AP) - JPMorgan Chase is making a $900,000 investment to support sustainable infrastructure projects in Detroit.
The bank’s plans announced Thursday include retrofitting more than 70 percent of Chase branches in the city with LED lights and new building systems to improve energy efficiency. It’s part of its previously announced $150 million financial commitment to Detroit’s economic recovery.
The updates to bank branches also seek to cut water consumption from irrigation systems by 20 percent.
JPMorgan Chase is supporting the Eastside Community Network to boost acquisition and rehabilitation of vacant commercial properties along the Mack Avenue commercial corridor. And it’s working with the Jefferson East organization to increase the use of green building practices.
Other efforts include supporting The Nature Conservancy’s work with Detroit and others to improve storm water management.
