CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged in October at 5.1 percent.

WorkForce West Virginia says the number of unemployed residents increased by 100 last month to 39,900.

Employment gains included 1,300 in government, 1,000 in construction, 700 in educational and health services, 700 in leisure and hospitality and 300 in manufacturing.

There were job losses of 800 in trade, transportation and utilities; 700 in financial activities; and 600 in professional and business services.

The national unemployment rate dipped to 4.1 percent in October.
