Democrat Doug Jones is out with a new television ad that plays up the idea that Republicans are abandoning Roy Moore ahead of their special Senate election showdown in Alabama next month.

In the ad, self-identified Republican voters say are backing Mr. Jones because they can’t stomach Mr. Moore, noting that the former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court was removed from the bench, and once again is engulfed in controversy.

“I am a Republican, but Roy Moore? No way,” a man says in the spot, which also alludes to the allegations of sexual misconduct that women leveled against Mr. Moore in a recent Washington Post report.

“This time, it is even worse,” a man says. “You read the story, and it just shakes you,” a woman says.

Others say the story is “Just awful,” “I just don’t trust him,” “He is too divisive” and “Don’t decency and integrity matter anymore?”

National GOP leaders have called on Mr. Moore to quit the race, but Mr. Moore has remained defiant, saying the accusations against him are false and voters in Alabama know it.
