CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson starting defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence will miss his second straight game with a right foot injury.

Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said Tuesday that Lawrence’s injury had improved, but he still wanted him as healthy as possible before returning to the field.

Clemson (7-3) plays Citadel (5-5) on Saturday.

Lawrence, a 6-foot-4, 340 pound sophomore from Wake Forest, North Carolina, sat out fourth-ranked Clemson’s 31-14 win over Florida State last Saturday. He had a walking boot on his foot during pre-game warmups. Albert Huggins took over the Lawrence, who was the Atlantic Coast Conference’s defensive freshman of the year last season for the national champions.

Lawrence had a screw inserted in his foot over the summer. He’s had 33 tackles and 1.5 sacks this season.
