Sen. Charles E. Grassley said Tuesday he hopes the special counsel’s investigation into President Trump and claims of collusion with Russia will come to a close soon.
“In regard to what special counsel Mueller is doing, you won’t know until he gets done,” Mr. Grassley, Iowa Republican, said on Fox Business, referring to special counsel Robert Mueller who is conducting the investigation.
Mr. Grassley, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, added that there has been no evidence to this point of collusion between Mr. Trump and the Russian government despite others being charged in relation to the investigation. Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his business partner Richard Gates have been charged in connection with their work prior to joining the Trump campaign.
“So I hope special counsel Mueller will come to a point that ’there’s no there, there,’ ” Mr. Grassley said.
