Republican U.S. Sen. Susan Collins of Maine is joining Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in calling for Senate candidate Roy Moore of Alabama to step aside.
Collins tweeted Monday that she didn’t find Moore’s denials of sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl to be convincing, and she called on him to withdraw from the Senate race in Alabama.
Moore said he’s the victim of a witch hunt.
The Washington Post reported Moore was 32 when he allegedly initiated sexual contact with the 14-year-old and pursued romantic relationships with other teenage girls.
Another woman came forward Monday, saying she was 16 when Moore squeezed her neck, tried to force her face into his crotch and tried to pull off her shirt.
