SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Utah state attorney general has agreed to review the death of a 21-year-old woman who authorities say lost weight and became dehydrated during four days in the Duchesne County jail.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2q2o6wO ) that an aide to Attorney General Sean Reyes said Monday the office would look into the death last December of Madison Jensen.
State medical examiners said Jensen lost between 17 and 42 pounds before she died of cardiac arrhythmia caused by dehydration and opiate withdrawal.
The Tribune says inmates and a document in the medical examiner’s report show that Jensen sought medical help before she died, but that questions have gone unanswered about any medical attention Jensen received in jail.
It says Duchesne County Attorney Stephen Foote has declined to comment.
