President Trump took to Twitter late Tuesday evening to accuse the Democrats of hypocrisy on his firing of FBI Director James B. Comey.

“Cryin’ Chuck Schumer stated recently, ’I do not have confidence in him (James Comey) any longer.’ Then acts so indignant. #draintheswamp,” Mr. Trump tweeted.

Mr. Schumer had said that Mr. Comey had to go in November after his election-eve decision to notify Congress and the public that the Hillary Clinton email investigation had been reopened.

But when Mr. Schumer was faced Tuesday with a president who took the advice of the Justice Department and fired Mr. Comey over that issue, he sang a different tune.

Mr. Schumer referred to a “deeply troubling pattern” of Mr. Trump firing Justice Department officials investigating him and/or his associates. He said “people [are] going to suspect coverup, absolutely.”
