Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and three other members of the ’08 Celtics reunited on TNT on Tuesday, and one notable name was missing: Ray Allen.
Pierce admitted he hasn’t talked to Allen in years after Allen left Boston for the Miami Heat in free agency in 2012. Pierce also compared the move to a sour breakup.
Garnett said “people don’t understand this is real life for us.” Allen, Pierce and Garnett won a championship in 2008 against the Los Angeles Lakers. They played together for five seasons, also making the finals in 2012.
“It was more than basketball for us… It felt like a sour breakup.”
