BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) - Nonprofit groups in Brunswick are surveying workers about whether they would benefit from starting a public transportation system in the coastal Georgia city.
The Brunswick News reports (https://bit.ly/2pKrGLD ) a coalition of groups pushing to bring mass transit to the city is circulating a survey among local business owners and employers, asking them to give copies to their workers.
Melinda Ennis-Roughton of the group Family Connection Glynn says the plan is to have surveys completed by the end of May and results tabulated over the summer.
Studies have shown it would cost about $1.2 million to get a mass transit system started in Brunswick. Because it’s a largely urban area, officials could expect roughly $600,000 in matching funds from the federal government.
