LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Environmental Protection Agency will be moving out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas when its lease expires in 2020.
The Las Vegas Sun reports (https://bit.ly/2pe3dgc ) Friday that the announcement ends efforts to build a new facility for the agency.
The agency plans to consolidate the lab with existing agency operations in other states.
The decision is unrelated to President Donald Trump’s proposed budget cuts to the agency.
University officials had been hoping the agency would remain affiliated.
Former Sen. Harry Reid had been fighting for $7.8 million in appropriations so the agency could build a new facility at the university.
