WESTVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in LaPorte County, Indiana say an inmate has escaped from Westville Correctional Facility.

Authorities on Friday identified the escaped inmate as 35-year-old Orville Morris of Marengo. Morris has been an inmate of the prison since July 2014. He is serving a three-year sentence for robbery, and in August is to begin serving an additional three-year sentence for burglary. Morris was scheduled to be released in January 2019.

Morris was accounted for during the morning inmate check. Officials say he wasn’t seen during the afternoon count. Authorities didn’t say how the man got out of the prison.

Westville has various levels of security. It is located 23 miles east of Gary.
