GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Georgia officials have issued a warning against swimming at a state park because of high bacteria levels in Lake Lanier.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports (https://on-ajc.com/2qveXzz ) that Georgia State Parks spokeswoman Kim Hatcher says the lake at Don Carter State Park has high levels of E. coli. She says officials performed tests on Tuesday. Hatcher says it is currently unknown if the source of the bacteria is human or animal.

The beach and surrounding park remain open.
