Radio host Glenn Beck issued a warning to comedian Stephen Colbert on Thursday: “You have become me, circa 2009.”
The CBS “Late Show” host ignited outrage on social media and among political commentators on Monday when he referred to President Donald Trump as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “c-k holster.” Mr. Colbert told an audience on Wednesday that he “would do it again” with a few changes, but The Blaze founder said he was going down a dark path.
“Probably the coldest ice water I can throw over your head to try to wake you up is: You have become me, circa 2009. Stop it,” Mr. Beck said.
The pundit’s timeline references his tenure at Fox News Channel, which lasted until June 2011.
“The Glenn Beck Radio Program” host said vulgar attacks fueled by anger only serve to embolden activists on the opposite side of the political spectrum.
“What you’re doing Stephen Colbert — I know. I know what you’re doing. I’ve been there. It doesn’t work. The reason why I say the vitriol you feel for me, that’s what you’re causing on the other side. Half the country disagrees with you. When you’re hitting [Mr. Trump] like that, what do you think the other half is going to do? They’re going to run to his defense,” Mr. Beck said.

The host ended the segment with an additional warning: “If you want to be thought of as the Glenn Beck for half the country — believe me — it ain’t no picnic, Stephen. […] This doesn’t last. Hatred doesn’t last. No one wants to go to bed feeling angry and hatred.”
Mr. Beck’s radio program airs weekdays at 9 a.m. EST. on The Blaze.
