LOS ANGELES (AP) - Some 20 teachers at a Los Angeles elementary school have come down with suspected food poisoning after a teacher appreciation luncheon.

KABC-TV says (https://bit.ly/2p2zBH2) teachers called in sick Thursday at Vintage Magnet Elementary School in North Hills. Substitutes were brought in to teach class.

The illnesses came two days after a buffet lunch catered by a local Hawaiian restaurant. The Tiki-themed event featured meats, rice and macaroni salad.

But a staff member says the culprit may be fruits and dessert that parents brought in. Teachers apparently ate the leftovers on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Unified School District says all potential food sources are being investigated.
