PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a Philadelphia father has been charged with homicide in the death of his infant son last week.

Police say officers were called to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia shortly before 1 p.m. Friday after the death of 6-week-old Omar Braxton-Cooper.

Authorities said the infant had “multiple traumatic injuries throughout the body.”

After an investigation by the homicide unit, 31-year-old Omar Cooper of the Kingsessing section of southwest Philadelphia has been charged with homicide and child endangerment.

Cooper remained in prison without bail pending a June 14 preliminary hearing; his court-appointed attorney didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.
