SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - As two Sacramento police officers took a person to the city’s main jail Monday morning, a vehicle came up from behind theirs and hit them - then fled.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/2qvDnJW ) that both officers and the person sitting in the back of the car during the hit-and-run were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

A man was arrested who witnesses say was dropped off by the hit-and-run driver after the incident occurred.

Police Sgt. Bryce Heinlein says the man was arrested for public intoxication and is believed to have been a passenger, not the driver.

Authorities had been continuing to search for the driver as of Monday afternoon.
