Joe Scarborough calls Hillary Clinton’s election excuses ‘pathetic’

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough blasted Hillary Clinton for making “pathetic” excuses about her stunning defeat in the presidential race.

“Anybody going to say it?” Mr. Scarborough said on “Morning Joe” Wednesday. “That was pathetic. I’ll say it. Let me go out, I’ll get killed. Everybody I’ve talked to — everybody I have talked to — Democrats, independents, Republicans alike said that was pathetic.”

In an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour Tuesday, Mrs. Clinton said she was “on the way to winning” the race until FBI Director James Comey reopened the investigation into her private email server.

The Democratic presidential nominee, who was projected to win the White House going away on Election Day, also blamed her loss on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s meddling in the election.

Asked whether misogyny played a role in the outcome, Mrs. Clinton said that is “very much a part of the landscape politically, socially and economically.”

Mr. Scarborough said Mrs. Clinton has shown unparalleled “toughness” and “grittiness” in public life, but he said her attempts to deflect blame for the loss are weak.

“Everybody in American politics understands Comey played a major role, and so did Putin, and so did a lot of things,” he said. “But at the end of the day, the buck stops at the top with somebody who ran.

“It was a pathetic campaign,” Mr. Scarborough added. “It was a horrific campaign.”
