OPINION:
Hillary Clinton, failed presidential candidate, figures she has nothing left to live for so she’s tossing aside dignity and jumping deep off the political end.
How else to sum up her own words?
“I’m now back to being an activist citizen and part of the resistance,” she said, during a particularly rocking-and-rolling ’I am woman, hear me roar’ moment on CNN, with Christiane Amanpour.
Is this what a former secretary of state — former first lady of the United States — has to look forward to? Becoming a member of the “resistance?”
Apparently.
Surely, Piggly Wiggly is hiring baggers or something. There must be something more befitting a former high-ranking U.S. politico, dignitary, ambassador, first lady and so forth than a title of Resister. Even grocery store service seems more dignified and, well — dignified.
“I can’t be anything other than who I am, and I’ve spent decades learning about what it would take to move our country forward,” Clinton said.
So, Mrs. Clinton, this is what you’ve come up with — resistance?
This is the new Clinton — the even angrier Clinton, apparently. The one who’s outright abandoning all pretense of going quietly into that good night and hanging with the family, laying down the political sword for a life of, say, writing and speaking on motivational and inspirational matters.
Perish that thought.
But truly, one doesn’t even have to be a Clinton fan to realize that she could offer something of value to the upcoming generations — advice, suggestions, recommendations and so forth on overcoming adversity, following one’s dream, dealing with multiculturalism. She could peel back curtains on overseas’ entities, dish in books about travels and experiences with foreign governments.
She’s a historical figure who could actually spend her remaining time on earth promoting good will between the political parties, pressing for diplomatic solutions to contentious ideas and using her platform for the betterment of all — not just the far left.
But instead?
She’s going low. Taking the Barack Obama approach and jumping into activism with vigor and with aim at taking out all things Republican.
And moreover, she’s bragging about it — bragging about being part of the left’s vicious “resistance” movement, as if such were worthy of blue ribbons and handshakes all around.
One would’ve hoped for more for the end of Clinton’s career — even one who doesn’t stand in the fan camp of Clinton politics. It’s too bad she couldn’t have found a higher calling to wrap her life. Now, her titles will be former secretary of state, former first lady, former presidential candidate — and angry partisan hack for the far-left “resistance” movement. It’s got a ring to it, I’ll give you that.
