Sen. Elizabeth Warren dismissed the idea of running for president in 2020 on Wednesday, saying she’s focused on her Senate race in 2018 and helping to rebuild the Democratic Party.
When asked on MSNBC if she was interested in a 2020 bid, Ms. Warren responded, “No. Look I’m in my Senate race. I’m going to run, I’m all in on that.”
The Massachusetts Democrat continued by saying Democrats need to get back into the fight for America’s working families and not just oppose President Trump if they want to win back state legislatures, governorships and congressional seats.
“We have to take full responsibility for this. If Democrats are fighting for America’s working families, then it is up to us to make that clear,” Ms. Warren explained. “If we’re not fighting then people have no reason to put faith in us. So the way I see this is we just have to get back in the fight. We have to live our values every single day.
“It’s not just enough to attack Donald Trump. We have to show what we stand for,” she said.
Ms. Warren has been one of Mr. Trump’s most vocal opponents on the Democratic side and is considered a top Democratic pick for a 2020 presidential bid.
