COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - Officials in north Mississippi have dismissed all members of a local emergency-911 board, weeks after some employees skipped work.

The Commercial Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/2pFYirZ ) Monday’s vote by the Lowndes County supervisors reflected dissatisfaction with how the E-911 board reacted after six dispatchers called in sick April 11 and 12. An E-911 supervisor and the director had to cover the shifts.

Some county officials said they believe dispatchers systematically called in sick to protest not getting pay raises when others did.

The E-911 board didn’t fire the dispatchers but required all 17 employees to sign a memo acknowledging it’s unacceptable to skip work in protest.

Harry Sanders, one of five county supervisors, says “troublemakers” have caused problems for E-911. The system will now be overseen by the county emergency services department.
