WASHINGTON (AP) - Five members of Metro’s track inspection department fired over what the agency said were falsified inspection reports are suing, saying Metro’s conclusions were “completely fraudulent.”
Radio station WTOP (https://bit.ly/2qFeHui ) reports the lawsuit filed in federal court in Washington says that some track problems were properly reported to Metro but that maintenance work was never scheduled to fix them. The lawsuit is separate from the five workers’ direct challenges to their firings. At least 16 workers and five supervisors were fired following a review of track inspection procedures.
Metro began its review following a July derailment. Among other things, the review found many inspection reports were copied from one month to the next. The lawsuit says that information doesn’t indicate a report is falsified.
