PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo has ordered that American and state flags be lowered in observation of Memorial Day.

The Democratic governor on Friday ordered the flags at state agencies and buildings be flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon on Monday, in accordance with a presidential proclamation.

Flags should be returned to full-staff at 12 p.m. on Monday.

Raimondo says Memorial Day is a time to come together to honor the men and women who laid down their lives to protect the United States.
