BATH, Maine (AP) - The Navy office that administers shipbuilding contracts and provides on-site technical expertise and quality assurance for three shipyards has a new leader.

Capt. Joseph Tuite relieved Capt. Michael Taylor of his duties during a change-of-command ceremony Friday at Supervisor of Shipbuilding Bath.

Tuite comes to Bath after holding the same position on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, overseeing the work of a Bath Iron Works competitor. His past assignments include Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and U.S. Special Operations Command Headquarters.

Supervisor of Shipbuilding Bath oversees design and construction of five Navy ship classes at private shipyards in Bath; San Diego, California; and Marinette, Wisconsin.

Taylor has been designated as the program manager for the Littoral Combat Ship program office. He’ll take that post in August.
