British Prime Minister Theresa May said she will tell President Trump in person Thursday that the U.S. must stop leaking intelligence shared between the two countries, after details of the Manchester terrorist attack were leaked to American media.
“I will make clear to President Trump that intelligence that is shared between our law enforcement agencies must remain secure,” she said in a televised statement.
British police stopped sharing information about the suicide bombing with the U.S. after photographs of the bomb fragments appeared in the U.S. media. Law-enforcement authorities in Britain said the leaks risked hindering their investigation.
Since his inauguration, Mr. Trump also has expressed concern about government leaks to the media from U.S. intelligence and law-enforcement agencies. The president also was accused of leaking classified information about terrorism in a meeting with Russian officials, a charge he has rejected.
The attack at a pop music concert in Manchester killed 22 people and injured 116 others. Officials say the bombing was carried out by a British man of Libyan descent.
