Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity told viewers on Tuesday night that a campaign is underway by critics to target his advertisers and “silence” him.
The nonprofit organization Media Matters for America was singled out by Mr. Hannity for engaging in “liberal fascism” via its response to his stories on slain DNC staffer Seth Rich. The Fox star told his audience that he would temporarily forego coverage on Mr. Rich’s mysterious July 2016 shooting death to respect the “family’s wishes,” but vowed to “find the truth.”
“To the extent of my ability, I am not going to stop trying to find the truth,” Mr. Hannity said, The Blaze reported Wednesday. “That’s what we do here every single day. That effort is not stopping in any way, shape, matter, or form. I am continuing the work that I promised to do every day for you and at the proper time, we shall continue and talk a lot more.”
“There is an effort now about to silence to me,” the host continued. “Media Matters is attacking my advertising base. That is what we have called on this program liberal fascism — attack, boycott, all in an effort to silence conservatives.”
Media Matters dismissed the broadcast as a “tirade” on Wednesday while mocking the host’s “obsession with a stale 4chan conspiracy.”
“I serve at the pleasure of the Fox News Channel, and I am here to do my job every night,” Mr. Hannity added. “I’m under contract, as long as they seem to want me.”
