ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A new poll suggests New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is enjoying his highest favorability rating in three years.
The survey released Wednesday by Siena College found that 61 percent of respondents said they have a favorable impression of the Democratic governor and 31 have an unfavorable opinion.
That’s up from 54 percent with a favorable impression last month, and Cuomo’s best overall favorability since June 2014.
According to the poll 51 percent of respondents give Cuomo’s performance as governor excellent or good marks, while 46 percent say he has done a fair or poor job.
Cuomo is widely viewed as a possible White House contender in 2020.
The May 15-21 telephone survey of 770 registered New York voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
