ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is touting the economic resurgence of Buffalo with a tour of the city’s waterfront.

The Democrat traveled to the state’s second largest city on Wednesday to highlight the new economic activity in the city and its surrounding region.

Cuomo and other leaders boarded a boat to view key sites on the waterfront, which he says serves as both an economic engine as well as a destination for tourists.

Later in the day the governor visited Oswego County where he announced the state’s acquisition of 6,000 acres of protected land. Cuomo said the addition is the largest in central New York in 45 years.

He says the land will be preserved to protect the environment and create new recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.
