DANIA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A fire at a gas station ignited by a car slamming into a pump has killed one person.

Local news outlets report the fire at a BP station in Dania Beach began Tuesday night after a driver plowed into a gas pump. Officials say one person has died, but the car was so badly mangled that they’re unsure if there were more victims.

WTVJ reports no one was pumping gas at the time of the crash, and the impact was so strong that the pump almost ended up on the road.

It was not immediately clear who caused the crash, and the person who died has not been identified.

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives say the crash is being investigated.
