LOGAN, Utah (AP) - A judge has denied bail for a 16-year-old boy accused of shooting a 14-year-old girl.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2rO0g8r ) First District Judge Kevin Allen ruled Tuesday based on findings made in juvenile court, the boy presents enough danger that he should not be released into his parents’ custody.

The boy is accused of shooting Deserae Turner in the back of the head Feb. 16, leaving the 14-year-old with permanent injuries.

He and another 16-year-old boy are charged with attempted aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and other crimes.

The boys allegedly lured Turner to a canal under the guise of selling her a knife. Both boys allegedly stole cash and electronics from Turner’s backpack after she was shot.

A bail hearing for the second 16-year-old boy is scheduled for Wednesday.
