DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A health care center in southeast Alabama has broken ground on a new $25 million office building that could generate more than 200 new jobs.
The 200,000 square-foot Health Center South will provide high-tech health care options for doctors and patients, the Dothan Eagle (https://bit.ly/2rwhO88) reported. The groundbreaking of the complex occurred Wednesday, and contractors will finish work on the building in summer 2018.
“We are thrilled to break ground today on this technologically-advanced building and doing our part to elevate Dothan’s medical landscape for patients and physicians alike,” Dr. Sebstian Heersink, managing partner in Health Center Development, LCC, said.
The five-story facility will include covered parking, complimentary electric vehicle charging for lessees, more than 890 parking spaces, four elevators, four floors with medical class-A leasable space and several two-story lobbies, said Jill Williams, director of marketing. It’ll be next door to Surgery Center South.
Williams said the facility could help Dothan recruit more physicians and offer better health care options.
“Investing in an innovative health care campus with access to an outpatient surgery center will strengthen our community’s health care delivery network and help recruit new physicians and staff,” she said. “Our ultimate goal is to improve the experience for current employees and patients throughout the Wiregrass by providing high quality and cost effective health care.”
Williams said the facility could end up employing 250 people.
Health Center South began as an ophthalmology practice in downtown Dothan in the 1980s
