HERSHEY, Pa. (AP) - State police are honoring a 23-year-old trooper shot and killed four months ago while investigating violations of a protective order in central Pennsylvania.
Trooper Landon Weaver’s wife, Macy, was presented the Pennsylvania State Police Cross Tuesday. The award is for the closest relatives of those who’ve died under honorable circumstances in the performance of duty.
Weaver was killed by suspect Jason Robison in Hesston on Dec. 30. Robison was tracked by police to a nearby camper and was shot and killed. Police said he didn’t comply with orders to drop a gun.
Col. Tyree Blocker, the state police commissioner, says Weaver exemplified professionalism, dedication and bravery.
Weaver is the 97th trooper to die in the line of duty. They’re memorialized on a wall at the State Police Academy in Hershey.
