PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Gov. Gina Raimondo says she has no time or interest to respond to “political shots” coming from her predecessor and fellow Democrat, former Gov. Lincoln Chafee.

Raimondo tells WPRO-AM (https://bit.ly/2qAKcpj ) that Chafee “feels sore about something and he seems to be lashing out, for whatever reason.”

Chafee has stepped up criticism of Raimondo amid speculation he could run against her in 2018. The former Democratic presidential candidate and one-term governor says he hasn’t ruled out a run.

Chafee this week faulted the Raimondo administration for subsidizing companies building a Providence technology complex. Raimondo says it will create thousands of jobs in an area that was “dirt” and “tumbleweeds” when she became governor.

Raimondo says the economy’s doing better since she took office and more people are employed and hopeful.
