SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - A suspected drunken driver who struck and killed a 3-year-old boy with her pickup truck as the boy crossed a San Bernardino street had been released from jail hours before the crash for a separate alcohol-related arrest.

The Press-Enterprise reports (https://bit.ly/2qu3Sfg) 34-year-old Crystal Marie Fuentes of Redlands was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication Wednesday night and released the following morning.

Hours later, records show Fuentes drove drunk as she went around vehicles that had stopped at an intersection to allow Michael Flores and his family to cross the street. The suspect then struck and killed the boy.

Fuentes has been charged with murder and driving under the influence. She’s scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.

Court documents show she pleaded no contest to a DUI charge last month.
