Fox News has severed its relationship with “The Five” co-host Bob Beckel over a racist remark he allegedly made about a black colleague, Variety reported Friday.
“Bob Beckel was terminated today for making an insensitive remark to an African-American employee,” the network told Variety in a statement.
Sources told the website that Fox News’ human-resources department was made aware of a complaint Tuesday evening and an internal investigation was conducted. Mr. Beckel was reportedly let go Friday morning.
It’s the second time that Mr. Beckel, a Democrat, has parted ways with the network. He was released in 2015 after being absent for several months while recuperating from back surgery. After a brief stint at CNN, he returned to co-host “The Five” in January.
