NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Jill Biden, a former Delaware Technical Community College professor, spoke at the institution’s graduation ceremony.

News-Journal reports (https://delonline.us/2qwuqPj) graduates welcomed the former second lady back at the Bob Carpenter Sports Center at the University of Delaware in Newark on Wednesday.

Biden taught at the school for 15 years as an English professor before joining her husband, former Vice-President Joe Biden, in Washington, D.C.

Biden told graduates that she fell in love with community college because of the opportunities the institution provides.

Biden says it’s the reason she has advocated for increased access to higher education through the College Promise. The program supports funding for two years of college.

More than 650 associate degrees were handed out during the evening.
