SAN DIEGO (AP) - Two homeless men have been found dead at a San Diego strip mall and police suspect they were killed.
The San Diego Union-Tribune (https://bit.ly/2qtD2WZ ) says the bodies were found Wednesday on the sidewalk outside an Otay Mesa ice cream shop.
Lt. Mike Holden says the men were 56 and 61 years old and were known in the neighborhood.
Holden says an officer on patrol thought the men were sleeping but checked on them shortly before 3 a.m. and found they were dead.
Both men had what appeared to be traumatic injuries and homicide detectives are investigating.
Homeless people were the main targets in nearly a dozen attacks last year in San Diego that killed four people.
A 40-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to the attacks.
